PONIES AND A PARTY: 2019 WORLD SNOW POLO CHAMPIONSHIP
By Tara | Aspen, CO
A one-of-a-kind event.
As the temperatures drop and the mountain tops become sprinkled with the first snow, it’s not long before the well-heeled start to sweep the town of Aspen with their finest cashmere and fur-clad ensembles. It’s the beginning of the high season and the otherwise quiet mountain town prepares for its Winter celebrations.
For the past seven years, Aspen has kicked off the snow-filled festivities with the highly-anticipated St. Regis Snow Polo Championship. It’s a one-of-a-kind event that draws in polo devotees, industry titans, A-Listers, and locals alike. From the thundering ponies on the snow pressed field to the clinking whiskey filled tumblers inside the VIP tent, nothing kicks off Aspen’s social season quite like the World Snow Polo Championship.

The 2019 Snow Polo Championship was held on December 19th and 20th amidst sweeping mountain views at Rio Grande Park. From an atmospheric VIP tent, adorned with classic alpine elements, attendees sipped on Royal Salute Whiskey and savored french inspired light bites. With such prime viewing, it was a struggle for spectators to take their eyes off the action while team Richard Mille defeated US Polo Association in a 7-6 final. After awards were presented, the party continued at the new W Aspen for an aprés ski fundraiser in celebration of Aspen Valley Hospital.
